Kenlac High Gloss Thinner is a specialized solvent blend formulated to maximize the flow, leveling, and gloss retention of Nitrocellulose (NC) topcoats. Unlike standard thinners which evaporate rapidly, this premium formulation contains balanced retarders that keep the paint “open” for longer.
The Premium Anti-Blush Thinner for a Mirror-Like Finish.
This extended flow time allows the lacquer to settle perfectly flat, eliminating “orange peel” effects and ensuring a deep, brilliant shine. Crucially for the East African coast, Kenlac High Gloss Thinner offers superior resistance to “blushing” (the milky haze caused by trapped moisture), making it the ideal choice for spray painting in humid conditions.
Key Features:
-
Superior Flow: Allows lacquer to level out for a glass-smooth surface.
-
Gloss Enhancement: Maintains the high shine of the topcoat.
-
Anti-Blush Technology: Prevents moisture whitening in humid weather.
-
Retarded Evaporation: ideal for spraying large surface areas without dry spots.

1. When to Use Use Kenlac High Gloss Thinner for the final coats of your finishing process.
-
Tip: You can use Standard Thinner for the base coats or sealers to save money, but switch to High Gloss Thinner for the final topcoat to achieve the best finish.
2. Mixing Ratio Add to Kenlac Clear Varnish or NC Paints until spraying viscosity is achieved (typically 18–20 seconds in a Ford Cup 4).
-
Ratio: Usually 1:1 or 1 part thinner to 1.5 parts paint, depending on the spray gun setup.
3. Spraying in Humidity If spraying on a rainy or humid day (common in Mombasa), this thinner is essential. It slows the drying process, allowing moisture to escape before the film hardens.
-
Note: If blushing still occurs in extreme humidity (>90%), add 5% Retarder Solution.
4. Drying Time Because this thinner evaporates slower than Standard Thinner, allow slightly longer “flash off” times between coats (approx. 5-10 minutes extra) to prevent solvent entrapment.
