The Reliable, Budget-Friendly Thinner for Sealers and Base Coats.
Kenlac Economy Standard Thinner is a balanced solvent blend developed to offer reliable performance at a competitive price point. While Kiboko is designed for cleaning, Economy Standard is refined enough to be used as a diluent for the foundational layers of your wood finishing system.
It is the ideal thinner for Kenlac Sanding Sealer, Grey Wood Primer, and Red Oxide primers. It offers good solvency and evaporation rates, ensuring that undercoats dry quickly so you can move on to the final sanding and finishing stages faster. For workshops processing large volumes of furniture, switching to Economy Standard for the “sealer coats” and saving the premium thinners for the “top coats” is a smart cost-saving strategy.

1. Thinning Sanding Sealer This is the primary application for this grade.
-
Ratio: Mix approx. 1:1 with Kenlac Sanding Sealer.
-
Benefit: Its fast evaporation rate helps the sealer dry brittle and hard, making it much easier to sand down into a smooth powder without clogging the sandpaper.
2. Thinning Primers Suitable for Red Oxide, Cellulose Putty, and Wood Primers.
-
Method: Add gradually until the paint flows freely from the brush or spray gun.
3. The “Two-Thinner” System (Pro Tip) For the best results at the lowest cost:
-
Step 1: Use Economy Standard Thinner for the Sanding Sealer coats (where gloss doesn’t matter).
-
Step 2: Switch to Super Standard or High Gloss Thinner for the final Clear Varnish coats (where shine is everything).
4. Cleaning Like Kiboko, it is also excellent for cleaning equipment, though slightly more expensive than washing grade.
5. Safety Highly Flammable. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure lids are tightly closed to prevent evaporation.
