Kenlac® 2K Thinner is a high-performance solvent blend formulated specifically for thinning 2-pack (2K) acrylic and polyurethane coating systems. Unlike standard cellulose thinners, this premium reducer is engineered to ensure optimal flow and leveling without compromising the curing process of the hardener.
Premium Acrylic Reducer for High-Gloss 2-Pack Systems.
Designed for the automotive refinishing and high-end joinery sectors, Kenlac® 2K Thinner offers exceptional solvency power and a controlled evaporation rate. This prevents common defects such as “orange peel,” blooming (blushing), or pin-holing, ensuring a mirror-like, high-gloss finish every time. It is fully compatible with most major brands of 2K primers, clear coats, and solid colors.
Key Features:
-
Controlled Evaporation: Allows paint to flow out perfectly flat before setting.
-
Anti-Bloom Formulation: Resistant to moisture blush, even in humid coastal conditions.
-
High Solvency: Effectively lowers viscosity with less volume, maintaining solid content.
-
Gloss Retention: Does not dull the finish, ensuring maximum shine.

1. Mixing Ratio: Always refer to the paint manufacturer’s technical data sheet for the exact thinning ratio.
-
General Rule: Typically added at 5% to 15% by volume to the mixed paint (Paint + Hardener).
-
Note: Do not exceed recommended limits, as over-thinning can cause runs, sags, or low film build.
2. Mixing Process: Add the hardener to the paint first and stir well. Then, add Kenlac® 2K Thinner gradually while stirring until the desired spraying viscosity is achieved (usually measured using a DIN 4 cup). Ensure the spray booth or workshop is well-ventilated.
-
Temperature: Best results are achieved between 20°C and 25°C.
-
Humidity: Avoid spraying if relative humidity exceeds 85%, although Kenlac® 2K contains anti-bloom retarders to assist in these conditions.
4. Equipment Cleaning: Kenlac 2K Thinner is an excellent cleaner for spray guns and equipment immediately after use. Do not allow 2K paint to cure inside the gun, as it cannot be dissolved once hardened.
5. Safety Warning: This product contains volatile organic solvents. Always wear a suitable respirator mask, safety goggles, and solvent-resistant gloves during use. Keep away from sparks and open flames.
