Polystic® – UPVC Adhesive

Polystic uPVC Adhesive is a high-performance solvent cement specifically formulated for the bonding of rigid uPVC pipes and fittings. Unlike standard glues that merely stick surfaces together, Polystic utilizes advanced solvent welding technology to chemically fuse the pipe and fitting into a single, homogeneous unit.

The Professional Solvent Cement for High-Pressure uPVC Systems.

Polystic® uPVC Adhesive is a high-performance solvent cement specifically formulated for the bonding of rigid uPVC pipes and fittings. Unlike standard glues that merely stick surfaces together, Polystic® utilizes advanced solvent welding technology to chemically fuse the pipe and fitting into a single, homogeneous unit.

Designed for the rigorous demands of the East African construction industry, Polystic is ideal for use in potable water supply systems, irrigation networks, industrial fluid transport, and S.W.V (Soil, Waste, and Vent) sanitation systems. Its medium-bodied viscosity ensures excellent gap-filling properties while preventing run-off, making it easy to apply even on vertical joints.

Key Features:

  • Cold Weld Technology: Creates a joint stronger than the pipe itself.

  • Rapid Setting: Fast initial grab allows for quick installation and handling.

  • High Pressure Resistance: Suitable for both pressure and non-pressure piping systems.

  • Gap Filling: effective sealing even on pipes with minor irregularities.

1. Cut and Chamfer: Cut the pipe square. Remove all burrs from both the inside and outside edges. Chamfer (bevel) the end of the pipe slightly (approx. 15°) to prevent the sharp edge from scraping the cement off the fitting socket.

2. Clean the Surface (Crucial): Wipe the pipe end and the inside of the fitting with a clean, dry rag. For best results, clean both surfaces with KAPL Cleaning Fluid to remove oil, grease, and moisture. Surface must be dry.

3. Apply Adhesive: Using a suitable brush, apply a full, even coat of Polystic to the pipe and a thin coat to the inside of the fitting.

  • Tip: Do not re-dip the brush into the can if it has picked up dirt from the pipe.

4. Assemble Immediately: While the cement is still wet, push the pipe fully into the fitting with a slight twisting motion (1/4 turn) to ensure even distribution of the cement.

5. Hold the Joint: Hold the pipe and fitting firmly together for roughly 30 seconds to prevent the pipe from pushing back out (caused by tapered sockets).

6. Cleaning and Cure: Wipe off any excess cement bead from the outside of the joint. Allow the joint to stand undisturbed for 5-10 minutes. Wait 24 hours before applying full hydrostatic pressure.
